Station life
The Tutor is welcome to be part of our family and participate in life around the property outside school time.  Please ask us if you would like to participate in anything as sometimes we forget to offer.  Any help offered is always welcome.

Social life
While we do not consider that we are geographically isolated, social life in the bush can be limited.  The Tutor may need to be willing to seek some entertainment/social life away from the property.  It is not a requirement but the Tutor is encouraged to get away on some weekends. During the cooler months we try to participate in some horse sporting events. Tutors are welcome to come along but may need to provide their own transport.  If the family is attending a function or social event we will endeavor to include the Tutor where possible.

Job Duties
Home Tutor of 2 children, a 12-year-old boy in Year 6, and a 14-year-old boy in year 8 studying via Mount Isa School Of The Air, at Augustus Station, 140 km south of Little Town

Duties:
Prepare and organise the weekly program and schoolroom.  Supervise the children's work and help as required (but do not do the work for them). Organise at least 20 minutes a day of sport or physical activity.   We aim to have as much ‘face to face’ experience with the children’s class as possible and will attend as many camps, workshops, mini-schools etc. as possible.  You will be expected to supervise and support our children as necessary during these outings.

This position may include the following duties and general help;
You are required to keep schoolroom and your own quarters in a tidy conditioning.
Flexibility with school when any appointments pop up.
A small amount of general cleaning duties such as sweeping or mopping at times & a willingness to just help out when needed
Outdoors work is available if wanted during school holidays and can be a good opportunity for tutor to experience station life outside the classroom.

This position may include some childcare at various busy times.  We also prefer a commitment by a Tutor to stay to the end of the school year as this continuity is better for the children.

Schoolroom
The schoolroom is 20m from the house and is a 1 roomed cottage with an en suit .  The schoolroom is well set up with commercial office desks with each child having their own laptop computer with noise cancelling headphones for lessons.  The schoolroom must be cleaned and tidied regularly.  Encourage the children to participate in this by packing up their own desk areas. Great heating and cooling with a reverse cycle split system.  Large window to provide natural light.

Accommodation
A self‑contained room with your own en suit.

Your own linen is required. The cleaning of the house and schoolroom is the responsibility of the Tutor. No smoking in any of the buildings.  We also have a large Recreational Club, that has access to its own satellite box for television, Foxtel, Wi-Fi, pool table, above ground swimming pool, staff BBQ & beer garden with an inside as well as an outdoor entertainment area

Hours of work
Children’s school hours can vary with season but are generally 8.00 – 3.00 Monday to Friday, plus Home Tutor will require additional time to prepare lessons. Home Tutor is encouraged to include extracurricular activities for the children outside of school if time permits, i.e. cooking, science experiments, physical exercise.

Meals
The station cook will provide Home Tutor their breakfast smoko, lunch and evening meals during days worked. Tutor is to provide own meals of a weekend if the rest of the staff are on days off.
