My husband and I manage AACo’s Brunette Downs Station. We have 3 children – 2 boys, William aged 11 Lachlan, 9   and Matilda 8 years. In 2017, the children will be in Yr6, Yr5 & Yr3 respectively.
 
Brunette employs a total of 50 full time staff and we encourage a warm, friendly, family orientated environment.
 
Our Staff attends local community events and regional camp drafts and rodeos throughout the season.

Brunette Downs is 350km NE of the nearest town Tennant Creek. Mount Isa, QLD is 660km SE of Brunette Downs and is the stations main service town.


Requirements
·         Senior First Aid Certificate
·         As parents, we expect you to be a positive and sensible role model for our children. That you create an enjoyable, positive, firm and structured disciplinary learning environment within the school room that is developed in conjunction with us as the parents. And that you have a love for kids, enjoy teaching and creating a fun learning atmosphere that encourages and boosts both confidence and individuality within the children.
·         As we are based in the NT an OCRE card is required. If any help is needed in obtaining this card than we are more than happy to help assist where possible.
·         Own transport isn’t essential but it is preferred as it allows you the opportunity to go off station on rostered days off

Our Property:
Brunette Downs is 350km north east of the nearest town, Tennant Creek.  Mount Isa, Queensland, is 660km south east of Brunette Downs and is the Station’s main service town. Brunette Downs is situated in the middle of the Barkly Tableland and comprises mostly open downs with small areas of timbered country. This is supplemented by the Brunette Lakes - Sylvester, Corella and de Burgh - which cover 20 per cent of the property and provide valuable growing and fattening country
Brunette Downs is well known because of its annual outback races (Held in June), the ABC Races (known as the Brunette Races).

Wages:
Governess/home tutors are paid a daily rate according to levels of competency and experience. Wages will be discussed on application.
 
Schoolroom
 
Schoolroom:
 
We have a large, fully functioning school room with a reverse cycle air conditioner. It is set up with wireless internet and phone lines, individual student desks and a separate computer room with plenty of space…Outside the classroom is an undercover area that also doubles as a play/work area with table, sink and chalk board. There are also bathroom and toilet facilities situated outside the schoolroom.

 
Accommodation:
 
Single employee preferred but we are able to accommodate for either single or a couple..
Brunette has a fully self-contained kitchen used by all staff with a full time cook employed. On rostered days off staff prepare their own meals on these days. Food supplied.
 

 
Duties:
The School day begins at 6.30am for the governess to finalize preparations for the day and to listen to notices from the school, the children arrive and start at 7.30am and finish at 3.00pm with 20 min of sport prior to starting lessons at 8am. ½ hour for smoko and 1 hour for lunch.
 
Once school is completed the governess then has time to tidy up the school room from the day’s activities, send off relevant paperwork to the school and to prepare for the following school day.
 
First Aid & Working With Children Check:
All employees will be required to have or get at the beginning of employment their Senior First Aid Certificate and be willing to get a working with children's check.
 
Other Conditions:
This position may include some childcare at various busy times.  We also prefer a commitment by a Tutor to stay to the end of the school year as this continuity is better for the children.
 
Referee
