My husband and I have 4 children.  A girl in year 6, a girl in year 4, a girl in year 1 and a 4yr old boy in Kindy.  We love living in the bush and have lots of pets.   We have lots of horses and we all love to ride and compete at campdrafts.  We also enjoy water skiing in the summer time. The children also love to ride their motorbikes.  We are easy going people and like our govies to feel part of the family.  My husband and I manage a cattle property for the Gibson family in south west QLD. There are at times other station hands that live on the property, as well as contractors at different times.

Social life:
While we do not consider that we are geographically isolated, social life in the bush can be limited.  The Tutor may need to be willing to seek some entertainment/social life away from the property.  It is not a requirement but the Tutor is encouraged to get away on some weekends. During the cooler months we try to participate in some horse sporting events. Tutors are welcome to come along.  If the family is attending a function or social event we will endeavor to include the Tutor where possible.  There is other govies working in this area.


Remuneration
 
We will be employing you through the In Home Care scheme.  We will support you with information about this upon application.

Schoolroom:
The schoolroom is a room in the main homestead. The schoolroom must be cleaned and tidied regularly.  Encourage the children to participate in this by packing up their own desk areas. School room has air-conditioning. & a heater
 

Accommodation:
Self‑contained quarters which you will share with other employees & contractors occasionally You will have your own spacious air-conditioned room with a double bed wardrobe and dresser with large mirror.  Your own toilet and there are three showers in the quarters.  Air-conditioned kitchen and lounge area with satellite TV.
 
You must supply all your own linen.  The quarters must be kept clean & tidy by everyone who resides there. No smoking in bed rooms, kitchen or lounge area. 

Job Description
Home Tutor to three girls, year 5, 3 & prep.
 
Duties:
Prepare and organize the weekly program and schoolroom.  Supervise the children's work and help as required (but do not do the work for them).   We aim to have as much ‘face to face’ experience with the child/children’s class as possible and will attend as many camps, workshops, mini-schools, sports days etc. as possible.  You will be expected to supervise and support our child/children as necessary during these outings. 
 
This position will include the following duties and general help;
 
After school childcare when I’m out mustering or in town etc.
Helping clean children’s bed rooms and common areas.
Help children with folding washing & putting away clothes.
You are required to keep schoolroom and your own quarters clean & tidy.
Flexibility with school in mustering times
Water & mow the lawn at your quarters.
When eating with the family help with packing dishwasher, washing up, setting table etc.

Hours of work:
Children’s school hours can vary with season but are generally 7:30 – 2:00 Monday to Friday, plus Home Tutor will require additional time to prepare lessons. Some house help and helping children with choirs eg feeding animals, collecting eggs. Home Tutor is encouraged to include extracurricular activities for the children outside of school if time permits, i.e. cooking, physical exercise, horse or motorbike riding.
 

Meals:
I cook for everyone at the main house during the week.  You will have to cook for yourself in the quarter’s kitchen on weekends- all food provided.  On school days the Tutor would normally assist with morning tea & lunch for the children.  Some days the Tutor may be required to supervise morning tea and lunch if I am not available.
 

Mail:
Twice a week from Cunnamulla. Home tutor is responsible for sending in the children’s school work to school in the school mail bags.
 
 
Telephone:
We have Telstra mobile coverage at the quarters and over most of the property.  There is no landline in the quarters, so you will need your own Telstra mobile and pay for all your own phone calls & personal internet usage.
 

Internet:
You will have to pay for your own internet usage.  Satellite internet in the schoolroom for school use only.
 

 
Transport: 
When necessary to attend school functions home tutor will be transported with the family or you can use your own car if you wish.
 
First Aid & Working With Children Check:
All employees will be required to have or get at the beginning of employment their Senior First Aid Certificate and be willing to get a working with children's check & blue  card in accordance with the In Home Care regulations.
