Both parents live and work on Todmorden Station, as well as their younger 19 month daughter.   Todmorden Station is a family owned and run property, having been in the same family for over 50 years.  The Station prides itself on rangeland beef production

Station life
It is a busy small community, employing up to 8 people at a time.  Many of the younger staff are from overseas working on holiday visa’s or are part of an international rural exchange program.  The station  community is very friendly and inclusive.


Social life
There are opportunities to take part in local community events such as gymkhana’s also events coordinated by RICE (Remote and Isolated Children’s Education).  There are also other camps and events arranged through The Port Augusta School of The Air to bring the school community together 


Job Duties
Prepare and organize weekly program and schoolroom accordance with the Port Augusta SOTA program. Supervise work and help as required.
Provide a supportive and encouraging environment to promote interest and learning
Attend school camps and participate in community activities
Assist with other homestead work including domestic and gardening jobs outside of school hours 
Responsible for the cleaning and general maintenance of the Schoolroom and surroundings
 
Schoolroom
The airconditioned schoolroom is in the staff quarters near the main homestead.  The schoolroom must be cleaned and tidied regularly.  Encourage the children to participate in this by packing up their own desk areas.
 
Accommodation
An airconditioned private bed/sitting room with ensuite bathroom is available.  Linen is available, but is preferable if you are able to supply your own.  You are responsible for your own cleaning and laundry.  There is a television in your room.  Internet is available in the staff quarters sitting room, though is limited. 
 
 
Hours of work
Generally, 0800 – 1630.  This time includes time for lesson preparation and also cleaning of classroom.  There is also an expectation that you will also help with some of the work in the staff kitchen as well


Meals
Are provided.  There is a designated person responsible for cooking 3 meals a day plus morning tea.  On Sundays, staff prepare their own breakfast and lunch

Satellite Internet access in the schoolroom

According to previous experience.
